5th Annual Portland, Maine Dyke March
For Dykes and the People Who Love Them!
6:30pm - 7:30pm - Monument Square Pre-Show and Rally
(rain location: First Parish Unitarian Universalist Church on Congress Street)
Featuring musical duo, HLA and belly dancers, Jaiyana
Highlighting dykes and women's sports opportunities, and dyke community-building organizations
Bring your gently used bras to donate to Athena’s Cup, supporting breast cancer research
7:30pm (estimated time) March Kickoff!
We’re looking for dykes on bikes (scooters, bicycles, strollers, roller skates or blades!), drummers and others to make music and sound to accompany the marchers. Bring your group banner, wear your team or professional uniform, or carry dyke-positive signs. Want to help out the Dyke March and volunteer? We need crossing guards to post at intersections along the march route – this is a great way for our allies to help!
8:00pm - 1:00am - One Longfellow Square After Party
Performances by Lavender Blue, Vanessa Torres, drag by Mel O'Drama and Gent Derbender, burlesque by Kitty van Dyke. Dyke March Dance Party with DJ Kate until 1am
FREE! ALL AGES! (Cash bar with 21+ ID) RAFFLE PRIZES!
And don’t forget our friends, the Kings of the Hill, are putting on their pride weekend show, “Rainbow Fried Circus” on June 18 and 19 at Portland Stage! If you have tickets to the Friday night show, come to the Dyke March, go see the Kings and then join us at the after party!
